My Optimara is blooming again (just went out of bloom a couple of weeks ago). This variety has not been ID'd. Well, it was sold to me as 'Texas,' but its obviously not that, as the bloom is fuchsia-pink. The seller admitted he wasn't sure of the variety. He's sending me another plant, by the way. Which I thought was nice of him, as I don't have to send this one back! The pic is pretty true for color. The white is what has me intrigued. Is it considered a thumbprint? Last time it bloomed it also had the white, although a little less, so I'm supposing its not a fluke.
Optimara bloom-thumb print?
Yes it is. Beautiful bloom!!
Connie
Thank you!
Pretty, Seacho!, but yours is not a 'thumbprint' type blossom.
A thumbprint is more like this>>>

You don't think the pattern on the upper two petals look like a thumbprint (even though the color is reversed) Pattern, Heidi? Is it because the pattern is lost on the lower petals? Could the difference be caused by temperature?
I'd like to know this too!
Whatever it's name is , it's very pretty.
Hi all...here is another example of a thumbprint type blossom. Thumbprints are as they imply...a patch as if made by your thumb.

Well, call me crazy, but this bloom looks to me just like a patch made by a thumb! It has several more buds, so it'll be interesting to see if they all have the same marking.
Looks cool, Randi! Hope that it's going to be stable... :)
