For many years I've struggled to grow delphinium in front of a stone wall. I finally conquered the big spring problem, slugs, by putting copper collars around the delphs at ground level. But in late summer, when they started their re-growth the little shoots were eaten away by something before they had a chance. I finally figured out it was earwigs, but spraying the delphs didn't help, as the amount it took to kill an earwig was apparently the size of a delphinium sprout. And the earwigs just kept coming. Then I read about Sluggo plus in Dave's Garden. I had to order it online, as the local garden supply stores didn't have it. But it was worth the shipping! This time when I came back to the garden a week or so after applying it almost all the delphs had new sprouts the size of a quarter or larger! The Sluggo Plus pellets attract the earwigs and keep them away from the delphs before ultimately killing them.
