Hi all,
I received a shipment from a nursery of some whips with suspicious bark growth that I suspect is canker. It is on first year growth, which spells disaster to me, although there are healthy leaves above it (?). Am I correct in my diagnosis?
Thanks for your help!
Canker?
My otherwise healthy peaches and cream Japanese maple has a few of these tiny wounds on it. They are only on what looks like frost damaged branches or regular dieback. It doesn't happen on any healthy branches and the dieback on my tree is normal for a Japanese maple, other than that my tree is thriving normally with lots a new growth
Thanks for responding.
If these were areas of dieback, there wouldn't be any healthy growth beyond them. And, these spots are on otherwise healthy new growth, and generally cover the whole internodal space two or three nodes back from the tip. Normal winter dieback would affect the tips of the branches.
Peaches and Cream is such a beautiful plant! Absolutely stunning in spring.
