September 15th, 2011: Gloriosa Lily 'Rothschildiana' (Gloriosa superba) by plant
Wonderfull picture. I've tried to grow this beautiful flower twice and failed both times. I just love it and think it is such a glorious plant.
Thanks marti! I purchased a couple of tubers online a few years ago, not knowing how it would do here in the heat and humidity of Florida. It doesn't bloom for long but it sure is pretty when it does show those pretty blooms!
There is a booth that sets up at the Fairs out here and sells all kinds of plants, like the Gloriosa Lily, Gingers, Plumerias and Angel Trumpets, plus so other topical flowers and a few succulet type plants. This year I bought an apricot colored Angel Trumpet. I hope that next year I'll be set up here to start getting a few ginger plants. I'm going to try and go to the Pamona Fair this Friday and see what they have there.
