Picture of an AV plantlet with Damping Off?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hey all!

So I have a bunch of AV plantlets that I started from cuttings and transplanted into 3oz solo cups using the wicking method to water. Everything has been fine and dandy untill about a week ago the little leaves on three of the plants started turning grey/brown and dieing. I've been snipping off the leaves as they turn but it hasn't stopped the carnage. So far I've lost one plant and this morning I noticed a 4th plantlet with a leaf gone bad. I've tried to do my research and what I'm afraid of is damping off but I can't find a picture of what damping off looks like on an AV. Before I start investing in chemicals I want to try to figure out for sure what's wrong. I would post a pic. of one of my plants but my camera just bit the dust so I'm requesting that if anyone has a pic. of an AV with damping off or knows of a site with a pic they post it so I can compare

Thank you!!!!!!

P.s. Swearing, praying, crying, and pleading has not helped LOL!

Oh I'm so sorry! I'll try to find you a picture, but the term damping off normally refers to seedlings. In this case it sounds like too much water.I would remove them from wicks, let them dry a bit and if you resume wicking, make sure to add more perlite to the soil.

I actually agree with Lynn on the fact that they might have been too wet.

In my experience, AV plantlets can take a bit of a dry spell much better than only one day of soggy soil.

I also don't think that wicking plantlets is such a good idea because their root system is still to small and much more susceptible to rot, both fungal and bacterial.

Damping off is just one kind of bacterial rot that mostly, but not exclusively, affects seedlings.

Hope that helped.

Thanks guys!

Damping off isn't the issue, I'm now 99.9% sure it's too much water. I dumped the water from the pots yesterday and I see an improvment already this morning. Wicking works great for the adult plants but I guess it's more moisture than the plantlets can use.

I really appericiate the time and help!
