Today we took a ride on the motorcycles out to Salmon River Falls. If you've never been i highly recommend it if you are in the area or feel the urge (& have the gas $...) to go for a loooong drive.
Here's a Google maps link and some photos of our mini road trip

on the way to the falls there is an awesome old wooden water tower. One of the last in the state.
Salmon River Falls ROAD TRIP!!!- Orwell, NY
..........I didn't even notice that i put it in the wrong forum. :( lol
That was quite a trip Outlaw! I loved the white flowers...don't know what they are....the falls are beautiful....
I enjoyed your pics of the trip, Outlaw.
What forum did you intend ? I ought to look at scenery or travel sites sometime when I'm tired of working in the yard.
It's beautiful there. So relaxing. I was going to put it in The public gardens, even though it's technically a state park but i think i must have been reading the Irene thread before hand or something. Lol oh well at least we're in the north east, and maybe near by enough to have been, or go someday if we're so inclined. I think it was daylily that pposted a bunch of as display gardens and i though wow! I gotta find one nearby! So beautiful. With so many great ideas. I have to admit. This year was all about getting the plants in the ground. Now i want almost every one of them somewhere else. Lol
Yep, it's a mad dash to plant here too. The public garden site does deserve to have a lot more entries, though. It would be an easy way to check them out to decide when to see them.
The white flower has been driving me crazy....the closest I could get was 'shinleaf'.....it's white, waxy, & grows in moist places through Aug.
Lovely pictures, this is one of the waterfalls on my "Must See" list! Thank you for sharing your trip with us!!!
OH, I think the white flower is hepatica.

Looks close, but I think hepatica only blooms in the spring......
True, forgot that part. How about Anemone?
Seems like it... I'm really not sure though. Not sure if you can see the veins through the petals in my picture, but the white hepatica doesn't seem to have that. Maybe i just can't see it in their pics either? Certainly does seem to be the same type of foliage. But it was still blooming! I will now be on the look out for this plant and seeds. :)
No, anenome is not waxy....those leaves are waxy.....
Think I finally ID that white flower for you.....
Parnassia fimbriata ~ aka "Bog Star'

OK I emailed one of the Ladies over in plant ID and her best guess is Parnassia glauca

I think her "guess" is dead on! ^_^

Yes, does look like it, but it's a zone 7 plant......would that be in NY state?
It's a Parnassia and this one is hardy and is native to new York .
