Slow Roast Lamb vs. Chicken Pie

Hi everyone,

I was hoping for a bit of advice/guidance...i'm new to the cooking and entertaining world and I'm hosting a weekend away for a few friends in September.

I'm currently trying to decide what to cook for the Sunday lunch and have narrowed it down to:
1.) Slow Roast Shoulder of Lamb with roast potatoes and parsnips, brocolli and gravy, or
2.) Chicken, Mushroom and Leek Pie with mashed potatoes and brocolli.

Please could you let me know which one you think would be easier to make (bearing in mind, I intend on making the pastry for the pie from scratch!).
