Sara Deming Ramsdell

Sally lost her 2-year struggle with breast cancer on Monday, August 22, 2011. She was born at Salt Lake City, Utah, June 11, 1941, to the late Milo Henry and Margaret Corder Deming. She is survived by Richard Alden Ramsdell, her husband of nearly 40 years, daughters Linda K Grimes, DVM, of Estill County, Patricia L. Welch (Jeff) of Fairport, NY, son Lee W. Grimes of Union, KY, and grandson Spencer R. Grimes of Lexington.
She lived in Lexington for approximately 40 years until her retirement and move to rural Estill County in 2004. She was the founder and president of Concrete Quality Consulting, Inc., and was active in concrete production and construction industry organizations including the American Concrete Institute, of which she was elected a “Fellow” in 1988. She was a charter member of the Bluegrass Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction. In 1994 she was named one of the “Top Women in Business in the Bluegrass” by The Lane Report.
In her retirement, she continued to serve as an arbitrator and mediator for the Better Business Bureau, became a Cooperative Weather Observer for the National Weather Service and Community Collaborative Rain Hail and Snow Network, and pursued interests in herbs, nature study and photography. Sally was a member of the Earthhealing team and asked that contributions be made in her memory at http://www.earthhealing.info or CoCoRaHS.org.
A remembrance of her life will be held at Lewis Funeral Home, 224 Main Street Irvine, KY, on Saturday, September 17th,2011 at 3pm. The family will greet friends and colleagues one hour prior thereto.
