Eucomis bicolor (pineapple lily)

Saint Paul, MN

Has anyone grown Eucomis bicolor in a pot? I bought four of the left over bulbs on sale because the looked like they were still alive. They have come up but I don't think I will get flowers this year (a combination of planting late and probably too deep). I am wondering how to store the bulbs over the winter once the foliage dies back. Are the bulbs as tough as things like dahlias or four o'clock tubers? OR Maybe I should leave them in the pot, however I do want to repot next year because I planted them 6 inches deep which was the packaging recommendation for in the ground depth but I think that was too deep for a pot. Any advice would be welcome.
