Well gardenhubby we have been watching all the swallows leaving us for the winter and going to warmer climes in Africa, and the martins will be next. We have loads of starlings here in England, in some areas they are classed as pests which is a shame. Yes i love watching the birds and i have put some birdboxes up especially for the bluetits who love them. I do not use any pesticides etc in my garden so the birds can have a look around for the slugs and snails it will keep them well fed, always make sure there is food out for them plus some water. i'd have to get out the book and go through it and it would end up way too long. One that i've just added this week is a Myrtle or Yellow-rumped Warbler. It was sitting in the Russel's Cottage Rose bush eating the hips. If I get the cuttings from the bayberry rooted, maybe after they start fruiting, it will stay around. If nothing else, I certainly have enough rose hips to keep it happy for awhile!
