Clematis 'Nelly Moser' in shade?

I just read that Clematis 'Nelly Moser' likes to be planted in shade is this true? i have an evergreen tree would it climb up that ok?

Yes, it's true. They do need some sun so check to see (roughly) how many hours of sun it would get.

Here's one of my Nelly Moser clem's in morning sun with shade the rest of the day.

It would get a fare amount of sun, the tree is trimmed high, but will it grow ok under an evergreen? and will it climb the tree?

Yes, it will climb an evergreen as well as a tree. Just make sure when you plant it that you're not creating root competition. Set the clematis about a foot or more from the evergreen or tree and plant the clematis at a 45 degree angle and give it some support to lead it to where you want it to grow - like a small trellis about 18" high.
