Our cucumber patch is the best we've had in several years. But, the cucumbers from at least one of the plants are being blighted by brownish orange areas. They seem to develop most frequently on the part of the cucumber that touches the ground or the mesh on which they are growing. However, I've also seen it on fruits that are hanging from the cucumber trellis and have never touched the ground. In some cases, the areas are wet and seem like soft blisters. The leaf part of the plant seems normal.
I've included a picture of some of the affected fruits. They are unusable for pickles but I've cut off the damaged area and the remaining cucumber tastes OK for eating out of hand.
Thanks in advance for help in identifying and managing/eradicating this problem. Organic preferred but will try other means if necessary.
