Help...clematis crispa seedling dying?

Beaumont, TX(Zone 9a)

This was sown from seed and it is looking sad...what can I do? The bottom leaves are limp and yellowing. Too much water?

I had 6 seedlings but now down to two. Help, please.

It doesn't look good. They don't want to drown, they just want moist, cool roots. I'd definitely mulch them and give them shade but the outlook doesn't seem good. I hate being a downer but mulch is critical here so twice as important in your heat.

keep moist and shaded. Mine often look like that because of the extreme heat we have here. I have some seedlings that have done the same thing. They are still alive it just got too hot for them.

Thanks, Desertdenial5; they are under shade and slightly moist. I hate to lose them...they are the first ones I've sown from seeds.
