Found Peppermint x Spearmint Hybrid

Oakland, MD

I'll have to add pics later, but while on the hillside next to work where they throw out piles of dirt and "dead" plants, I discovered that some of those plants weren't "dead", and have reproduced spearmint and peppermint all over the side of the hill.
I was walking along, and suddenly, a particular plant caught my eye.
It had the red stem of the peppermint, but the leaves looked more like spearmint, and it smelled like neither of the two!
I've determined it to be a hybrid of the two species.
I even found one with slight variegation =D.
So I've brought it home, and got it into pots, and we'll see how it goes!
I'm really curious as to the type of flavor this plant is going to produce!

I have a spearmint-peppermint cross with varigated leaves. Reckon it could be a common cross? I've never seen one before.
