What's Blooming in Your Garden part IV.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

The last thread was getting overflowed. Let's begin anew. We came from here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1190012/

This appears to be the peak time for gardening friends up North with the most glorious blooms. Please come and join us and share our joys of gardening here. Here in the South, Clethra is making a show in the garden.

Hostas

I have one Hosta in the shade and other in the sun. The one in shade is struggles while the one in sun, while getting crispy, is about to bloom. Go figure...

I cannot find the name of that red/yellow Coreopsis. I have looked at all my stuff and I don't see it anywhere. I'm thinking it came in a group of seeds for newbies for my DD. She gave me a few things she didn't want. The red one has 2 names on the package, Dwarf Red and Limerick Ruby. It could be either.

Nice lily
Shade might be slowing down the hosta. Many varieties are slow to develope.

Saint Louis, MO(Zone 6a)

I had to take a tree down. It was underplanted with a ring of Hosta June.
They have now lived in full sun for 3 years.
They are incredibly vigorous, though about this time of year, start to get burned.
I keep meaning to move them,
but there always seems to be some other more pressing crisis.
In the meantime, they seem to be thriving.

Hostas def. need shelter of shady trees here. Taking down trees? We've lost a beautiful Yoshino Cherry tree in the backyard. Yesterday DG took it down, but saved the stump, portion of the tree to make this pedestal for a flower container for me -- per request. Nice pics. everyone, thank you for sharing.

A different view, here is looking out to the same spot as above from inside the house. It was tough to part with a big beautiful tree, but it was time we let go.

How sad, Lily. I love my Yoshino.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Yes kwanjin, in early spring. It was gorgeous. But apparently a flood earlier in the season has suffocated the tree's areation. It soon gave out....took months to show its effect, but there was nothing we could have done to save it.

I hate losing favored plants. So sorry about yours.

Thanks kwanjin of your kind thought.

I just wanted to add, I know lilies are at their peak performance up North. Down here, however, Casa Blanca and 'Black Beauty' (above) are the last to bloom in the garden for me.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

You get to grow so many more things than I. I am envious!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

For instance, mid. May was our peak bloom of hydrangeas.

Okay, I get it. J. That gorgeous pristine white lily isn't Casa Blanca, but 'July Snow'! Nice, beautiful companion planting!
