I am sure alot of people already do this...make bread crumbs. I love the heels of the loaf, but with the 2 of us in this household, I can't keep up. So, I started laying them, the heels, in the toaster over baking pan...after I made toast in the mornings. I used the residual heat from the toaster to dry the bread. I love to use the bread crumbs with a little Panko added.....as a breading for talapia fillets. Or other fish. I also use them in the meatloaf, and other recipes. Now, I never was one to buy them....too expensive. But, Ifind myself enjoying them more when I make them myself. I just dry all heels, or stale HB buns etc....and use the food processor to grind them all up together.
