Sick, thinning Bradford Pear

Pecan Grove, TX

My Bradford Pear tree is thinning badly..What can cause that? There are a few black edged leaves curling up but no large amount of dead fallen leaves.

Old age; it is a very short-lived tree. 15-25 years is often all they give before starting to fall to pieces. Time to remove and replace, preferably with something better!

I have seen Brdford Pear referred to as the most over planted tree in America.

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Black curled leaves, especially on the new season's growth, often equals fireblight. It is too late for this year to do anything about that.

As stated by others, Callery Pear is a relatively short-lived tree and is becoming considered an invasive pest species in the eastern US.

I'd plan to eliminate this tree in favor of another you'd prefer.
