Allium seeds

Orgiva, Granada, Spain

My stunning alliums have finished flowering and are setting seed. I don't know the variety but they were wonderful tiny starry flowers which were not as tightly packed as the other alliums i have grown, they had huge heads and were a lilac purple colour. I really want these flowers all over the garden next season, the question is can i sow the seeds now and get more plants for next season?

I believe it takes two years for allium to bloom from seeds.

In my experience, maozamom is right. For several alliums I though they had all died, and then 2-3 years later they were EVERYWHERE!

But if your alliums are hybrids, they will not come true from seed. Do you know the variety? In my garden, christophii, atropurpureum, caeruleum, ramosum, oreophyllum and scheracephalon all come back from seeds, but some of the really big ones are hybrids and will not return in their purchased form.
