I have 5 swamp milkweed planted near each other.
On one plant, one stalk developed a bluish, black tinge at the base and the foliage all the way to the top of the stalk developed dark irregular mottled spots.
I cut the stalk off at the base, but I see that a second stalk has begun to change color at the base in the same fashion.
It has not yet affected any other plants. The foliage of the second affected stalk is still green and healthy looking.
Thoughts?
Since I garden for wildlife and the milkweed is for Monarchs I can't do anything chemical to fix this problem, whatever it is.
Thanks.
