It's a hawkmoth larva (family Sphingidae).

Resin

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Little, thanks for the new thread, Nice fat caterpillar, Glad Resin could tell us what he is. Are you planning on raising him?
Nanny your girls are a bit older then my GDs, I thought maybe Tori would have been about the same age as Danika. She's 10. And Mylene is 8.
According to that pic of Hayly, looks like you may have to get her a horse!

I almost step on this frog. I had seen tadpoles in a small pool of water, and wanted to get close, to take pictures of them. Good thing he was in water,

Yeah thanks resin - nope not raising it - also did not want to kill it - so gently moved it to a bushy area.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

The girls would love for us to move where we could have horses...but don't know who would take care of them. I am terrified of horses myself!! We sent Hayly to a Horse summer camp when she was like 2nd or 3rd grade. She learned all about taking care of horses and how to handle them. They have always totally captivated her. The girls are very short.....Hayly is only 4'8'' and Tori is around 4'5''

Very nice catch of the watersnake in the tree!! All of them are great!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Very interestinggggggggggg Burd. Glad your back. Love your snakes. Any of those poisonous? You wall shot frog, should definitely go on the wall, it's really nice.
Marna, your toad must of been hard to spot, it blend so well with the rocks. Nice catch.
Great experience for Hayly, at the Horse Summer camp. Who knows, she might end up working with them someday.

The Crows are all over, with Grackles chasing them. I want to get a video, of the flip they do, to avoid the Grackles attack.

Terrific shots Wild Rose, is the Red Spotted Newt native?

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes Lily, it is. They are common in the eastern US. I grew up catching these critters in streams and along lake edges. I had not seen one in years, and I was walking along a wooded path near a big pond just after it had rained, and there he was! I think they are cool! They are only the reddish orange color during their juvenile stage, then turn a more greenish brown... but keep the red spots.

Portland, TX(Zone 9b)

Beautiful newt! I found a bug on my empress candle plant today with the same colors. flatpickit ID'd as Milkweed Assassin Bug. It has been hanging out looking for food for the last couple of days. I thought it looked good with the fresh rain drops from a rare rain shower we had this morning.

Very interesting, WR. I'll be looking for them. yakmon those Assassin bugs are interesting. I sure don't like to see them around when come to butterfly gardening. They maybe harmful to my caterpillars?
