I had forgotten about getting these last year and had to go over to Plant ID to find out what they are - brodiaea. Once I saw the variety name 'Queen Fabiola' listed I remembered the odd name and buying some. Very dainty looking and so pretty.

I have a few more things blooming and will get pics tomorrow.

Janae, it's so funny you would post your brodiaea today- I took this picture Sunday of this plant.
I couldn't remember it's name either and was planning to look it up.
You saved me the work! At least, I think it's the same plant, maybe a different cultivar.
What do you think?

I know it's reputation for being too rampant, but I love verbena bonariensis.
I love the tall airy flower clusters.
And I actually like it popping up around the yard.
I may regret it in a few years, but currently it's no nuisance.

And a beautiful small double hydrangea.
Not very flashy, but one of my favorites.

I've the small blue flower bulb as well, couldn't decide if it was a Brodiaea or an Ixiolirion.

Wee, I think it is brodiaea as well but a different variety and I love it! I love the 'striped' look in yours and J's is such a beautiful blue color. I like the verbena b. as well and just started getting it to take in my yard. A friend farther south has a huge swath of it in her backyard and I'm so envious. I've heard so many bad things about it but I really like it and it's easy enough to pull up if it gets out of hand.

J, I've got rain lilies this year but waiting on them to bloom. I think they have one of the prettiest blooms. I just wish they were bigger! Once I looked up what a brodiaea actually was I saw the variety name and remembered it immediately so I knew that's what mine were. I need to look up Ixiolirion now :)

Love the idea of this thread, especially since mygarden in such a hodge podge! Five years ago this was lawn.

Also have few poppies in the misnamed vegetable garden.

Very pretty, okcrow! I love how that bed just sort of wanders. Are those lupines you have in that bed? I love them but they hate my yard full of rocks and clay. I love the bright poppies - still getting a large bed established myself of 'Brilliant'. DH complains that the bloom time is too short and that they just look like weeds after that but I don't care. I think it's worth it when they're all blooming - I could stand all day and look at them.

OKCrow, certainly an improvement over a boring lawn!
And my 'vegetable garden' made the same transition years ago.
Gave up battling the wildlife...

Great thread!

And LUV the Odelisk! Lucky you!

What's blooming here? Let's see...not much is the answer, but I'll look around...!

I've got three or four kinds of phlox in bloom. Several others are still thinking about it!

And I've got a few daylilies in bloom~~a 'color echo' with my Japanese Maple tree.

(I've just rearranged this garden a little bit (and added the bird bath) to take advantage of new sun from a tree taken down earlier.)

A few Japanese Iris here and there...I just looked in my Garden Journal and saw that I purchased 8 of them a few years ago, but have seen bloom from just two... (sob).

And a few daisies, tickseed, hardy geraniums, phlox, and asclepias incarnata (swamp milkweed) are in bloom in the 'sunny' border (even though we haven't had much sun!).
