canna planting time question

I was recently at a garden center and was given 4 canna bulbs free. I'm wondering if it's too late to plant them? I know I'll have to lift them in the fall, so are they going to be able to have enough growing and food storing time? I like cannas, but know next to nothing about them! Thanks for any info!

You could plant them in pots and bring the in before frost for a longer growing time.

Be careful about virus though.................Much stock is tainted these days.
