Elandan garden

Norridgewock, ME(Zone 5a)

While on the west coast we visited this garden (http://www.elandangardens.com/). It is run by Dan Robinson, who has been creating bonsai much of his life and recently wrote a book (Gnarly Branches, Ancient Trees). The garden was lovely, paths along the water, lined with bonsai. There is an admission fee, but it is worth it. The picture is of a weeping hemlock. We talked with Dan for awhile and he was full of helpful information. He has so many trees, it is his full-time job to maintain them. His son does sculpture in stone, and his wife runs the well-appointed gift shop.
