C. Armandii???

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

The leaves seem to be too roundish but they are heavy and stiff like armandii. The sign said C. purpurea vitticella but the leaves appear to be too different for that one too. Any ideas on what I might have?

I keep looking at this - I don't think this is a clematis. The leaves look too thick.

They are certainly too thick for many clematis but the armandii has heavy leaves, just a different shape. I used to have a good book on the different clematis cultivars and I am tearing my house up trying to find it.

Perhaps then....

I found this on clematis on the web. It's not a good picture of the leaves but the written description certainly sounds the way your leaves look.....

Thanks, I suspected it might well be an armandii.

Well, I am pretty sure it is not the C. purpurea vitticella and not so sure is isn't armandii. Guess I will just have to wait (something I am not good at) and see what color and type the flowers are.

Anything yet, Ardesia? Or is this a wait until next year type of thing?

LOL, afraid this is going to be a wait until next year thing.

So we only have about 9 months to go?

Sounds like I'll be a grandmother again when (if) it blooms.

When I typed the "9 months" I did think of pregnancy!

We all seem to be the "Clematis-in-waiting" type of people.

I love all my many lilies, dahlias, spring bulbs, etc. but it's the Japanese irises and Clematises that pull on my heart strings.
