I thought I had iris pallida variegata, but when someone on this forum said that the rhizomes were similar to iris rhizomes, I wondered if I might have something else. The rhizomes on my stripey plant are very different than iris rhizomes. They grow horizontally on top of the soil and look kind of snake-like with a leaf growing out of each side of a small root segment. It was sold to me as iris pallida. Anyone else have this plant?
Iris Pallida Variegata or Acorus Calamus Variegata?
Pallidas do grow a little differently. Their roots are a little longer, and slimmer, like some of the old historic irises. There are also some water loving irises that have the variegated leaves.
Break off a leaf and see if it smells like oranges.
