Clematis Country Arch

McGregor, IA(Zone 4b)

Renewable biodegradable arches can be made from branches and grapevines; add more each year as necessary.
It's kind of hard to see the arch under the foliage; the post at the right is the remnant of an old grape arbor that I am using for a support.

Great idea. What did you use for lashing? More new grape vine pieces?

usually a bit of wire here and there.

I tried a variation of that on a tomato cage upside down. I used clem vines but was lazy about lashing so it is kind of messy. Too bad the clem growing up on it hasn't covered the mess.
