Fern ID, please (#2)

Salem, MA

Here's a fern that my housemate planted 5+ years ago in a shady corner. It's multiplied and seems happy. It comes up early in the spring, and starts to look a little weatherbeaten by mid-fall. I have other photos of this one also if that would help. Thanks eversomuch for any help on this!

Probably a species of Dryopteris

looks like developing ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris) - look at base of frond - if pinna (side leaves) gradually get smaller, tapering to very short pinna then likely ostrich fern (fiddlehead favourite in the northeast) - top of frond will taper abruptly when frond is finished developing. Agree with Ostrich Fern because of the vase shaped growth habit.
