Why? Color change?

My 20 year old Nellie Moser is blooming...White flowers? Any idea why?

From Hummingbird Gardens in Maine:

Actual blooms on clematis plants often change color with age. For example, Arabella flowers start out life as a mid-purple, but fade to lighter purple and then blue as they get older. With this variety, it isn't uncommon to have several shades on the plant at the same time.

I have several Nelly Moser clematises so thank you for the heads up that their color may change. Mine are about 19 years old.

She's back! I fertilized her and amended the soil...Her lovely color came back! I think I will dig many of my older clems this winter and and revive the soil.
