I was kinda hoping since this was a garden forum, with lotsa ladies that there would be some homemade recipes for skincare, soaps, etc. with flowers from you can grow in your own back yard. anyone? :)

Hi Outlawheart, I looked in the herb forum and found this thread http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/854953/ there are a few ideas in there for herbal usages if you read down a little.
Smash ripe papaya with yogurt and blend well. Make sure easy enough to spread on the face but avoiding the eye area. After you spread papaya face mask on over your face, leave it there for about 5 minutes and then rinse it with warm water. It is excellent for every skin type except you have very sensitive skin. You can also use avocado instead of papaya. You can use it once a week.
