Will they grow on the beach in Hawaii?

I am ways looking for a good place to tell me if plants will grow on the beach. I work at a fine dining establishment on the north shore of Maui and have a hard time finding information on the salt tollerance of plants. Growing things in a tropical environment is usually pretty easy except when it comes to growing so close to the ocean. SALT EVERYWHERE!!
So the plant I am currently debating on is the Austrailian Flame Tree. Anybody hapen to know if this tree can handle heavy salt?

The Austalian Flametree grows well in most places in Hawai'i, but not on the coast.
