Aloha, I brought brownies :)

Athens, PA

Ooohhh. Brownies - sounds really good.

I will be sending out to my buddy this week as well. I had hoped to get it all together today, but I just had too much to do...

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Did you make them with PEcans? I either need an Aloha or a long Siesta. Have you been to Hawaii, Ang?

Watch your mail this week, Peggy and Carey, for your boxes of mixed Caladium bulbs.

Am I a slacker or what? I'm usually a really on the ball person. But gotta say I'm starting to feel the pressure of getting side trades out, besides being depressed over how many houseplants I lost over the Winter that I promised so many of you and can't send them. The ones that did survive are mostly still upstairs, and am bouncing all over the place with my printed list in hand, running around like a chicken with its head cut off...one minute running upstairs to see what's left to divide, and the next out in the gardens digging. Not complaining though since I do love sharing plants...just saying it's slow going and will get there for the rest of you as soon as I can.

Athens, PA

Fruity - I am in the same place you are in.... that is one reason I did not join your swap you just started with the 8 plants. I am lurking on that thread though..

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Howdy! Sorry I haven't been around the past few days - went to TN/KY for DSD college graduation this weekend, someone tried to hack into my email account and my DG account expired yesterday. A little much!

Char - I think your box arrived on Friday - and I didn't see it until a few minutes ago! I am SOOO excited. They're all looking a little unhappy from sitting in the box on the counter all weekend but they'll be in some nice soil very shortly. :) (and I LOVE Charlie, the marker and the dragon!!!!!)

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Awww Fruity don't lose your head! :)

I think these tradin' folk are about the nicest, most understanding-est folk there is.

Peace!

A.

p.s. I only say that because in my mind I keep adding things to your box, but I haven't put the first thing into your box yet. I'll be finished completely with school by the end of next Monday, May 16 by 5 p.m. if not before. I'll start planning for real/packing for real then.

Loveya! xoxoxoxoox

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Carey, I am so glad you got it. If you need replacement please let me know and I will get them for you....
thanks Dear..

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

You just have to be so excited about graduating, Amanda! Oh I'm so proud of you :)

I'm glad I'm not alone, Carolyn. The 8 plant swap is purely for Perennials, or Native plants if you have them, and we aren't doing side trades if that makes it easier. I really hope you and others will join us. And guess what, a bunch of my Callas have shot up points, they're only up an 1" or so but I'm excited to see them and they open a whole new World to my gardens.

(Ang) Bremerton, WA(Zone 8b)

FOTV - As for the Brownies I think these have walnuts. We bought them to make funky sundays with - brownie bottom, one scoop vanilla bean, one scoop banana foster, topped with chocolate peanut butter sauce. I usually make my brownies with Macadamia nuts or Pecans.
Nope, never been to Hawaii, unfortunately, but I'm part Hawaii and would love to. I want to go and have a nice big cup of kona coffee. My sister and her family went to Hawaii for a month last year, then my niece went with friends this year. I was so jealous especially since it was during winter lol.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Well Carolyn I didn't get the box of side trades packed after all. I am a slacker too. Too much going on right at the moment with trying to maintain 2 households in 2 different places. By the time I do get to send these plants, I will need a moving carton to put them in. LOL! Started them so long ago now that they are getting pretty big!

Athens, PA

Neener - take your time, I am not in any hurry. Right now, I am trying to get my beds cleaned out. Generally I have it done by now, but the weather just did not cooperate this Spring.

Fruity - I love callas - they are such a passion of mine and you can get them realitively inexpensively. I went back and ordered Red Sox from Susan. She is such a wonderful lady and I love having the callas all over my decks. I was going to get mine started this weekend, but I think I am going to wait a week or so. We are still having nights in the 30's and by the end of the week, we are supposed to be in the 50's at night.

(Ang) Bremerton, WA(Zone 8b)

Hello everyone! Today we are having a misty rainy foggy day so I'm not sure I'll be doing any weeding or catching up on the repotting of my plants. Fine by me. I don't know if I've mentioned it but for the past week or so I've been suffering an eye infection and ear infections. This weekend I over did it by cleaning the house quite a bit lol.

Update for Chris, I'm noticed quite a few shoots popping up next to the mint plants I planted. Each plant will get a bigger better pot when I have the energy. The only bad news is that I've lost my Peppermint plant, which I bought in 2009. The other plants are all thriving and we will add the hens and chicks to my son's succulent pot we're making.

FOTV and Carolyn, I've been seeing a lot of Callas in the stores lately. They are so beautiful!

Athens, PA

Ang

Feel better soon. Sounds like a good day to sit back and work on getting rid of the infection.

I love callas.... my obsession started at the mercy rack at Lowes..

(Ang) Bremerton, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks Carolyn. I plan to spend as much time as possible researching germinating buddleja seeds and propagating Kent Beauty Oregano. I noticed a lot of branches on the edge have roots.

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

I was almost going to say You're never going to believe this but I'm sure this has happened to someone else too.....
yesterday I was getting my plants out of storage in the garage. I could see through the plants these piles of dirt and couldn't imagine where they came from. Some critter had gotten into some of my pots by chewing through the bottoms and ate the roots of my special cannas and my clerodendrum ungandense. There was still a stem sticking up and the top of the soil was still just like it should be but underneath it was hollow and no roots. I think I'm gonna scream! These were the special cannas that I started from seeds that I had gotten from all over the world and the clerodendrum were really nice size shrubs that I had got for $5 a piece, they were gorgeous last year. Of course whoever the theif was didn't touch the 500 pounds of NOID cannas stacked in the corner. Guess I have to hang stuff from the ceiling next year. I knew canna roots were edible but that's insane!

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Awww - Roxxanne - so sorry for your loss. :/

Hi everyone, Sorry I have not been around. I have been sick. And my Doctor is the one who made me sick. He made me stop taking my pain pills and had me using a nitro gell only on the one Elbow. Well it caused massive headaches and every other joint in my body rebelled!! I just sat and wimpered for the lastweek or so. I rebeleed yesterday and am now back on my pain pills and off the nitro!! Forget that! I just wanted to die.

Now for the really bad news. Most of my side trade plants have bit the dust due to inattention while I was sick. So I will take a couple of days to see what I can salvage and send out what ever I can. If I am not able to send I will at least pay for the postage for the plants I have been sent!
As for the lotus I have promiced out. It is now to late to send. I need to send when they are dormant. So this fall after it dies back I will dig up tubers to send and all you will need to do is keep them in a wet tub, something the size of a plastic shoe tub will be great. then in the spring you can put them out to grow!!. I will send complete instructions when I send them out to folks.
Sorry for this guys, but who knew I would react so badly to a 1/2 inch dot of ointment!!!

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Elfie don't worry your sweet head over my stuff. I'm glad I actually had something to share that someone wanted! Lots of my stuff bit the dust too. It happens! Don't upset yourself.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

I hear you, Rox, and feel your pain. Makes you wonder what varmits have those kinds of specific tastes? I despise beady-eyed rodents and am glad my kitties continue to leave "trophies" of them at out backdoor.

Elfie, we've missed you! Shoot me a D-mail...you know I'll be glad to help you out if I have any plants you lost. I'm just glad you're back and are starting to feel better.

Be on the lookout for a box from me about the middle of the week, Patti. Mum's the word!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Got my box from goldhillal and it was pack full of great stuff.
I got
Oncidium dancing ladies (love that name) this is an orchid and I am soooo excited......
frittionia
mother of thousands
oxales perennial
Jerusaleum Cherry
Lipstick plant
NOID

They arrived in GREAT shape. Good job and I am just so excited to look them up and read all about them! I don't think I have any of them!

(Ang) Bremerton, WA(Zone 8b)

FOTV, we are going to look for a live mouse trap for our little field mouse on the deck. My philosophy is trap and release or let nature take it's course (aka the cat.) Since the fella is outside and the cats are indoor only, it's trap and release for us. I just can't bring myself to use the two traps my Dad bought.

I wound up going to the ER and got a couple prescriptions that I'll pick up in the morning. For now I'm self medicating with Lavender Iced Tea Lemonade. The lavender is to help me relax, the lemon is to help my sore throat and the combination is my way of pretending Summer is here.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

What a dork.....I forgot to attach my picture of my plants and forgot to mention the cutiest little thing to put in my pots!
I have to use DH's computer at night and he is always waiting with baited breath for me to get off of it......ever had baited breath breathing on you......? rofl......

Elfie your plant sort of looks like Piggy Back Plant, but I don't think that's what it is for sure. :))

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

I think it's foamflower (tiarella cordifolia).
http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/870/
or coral bells (heuchera)
http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/253/

There's also a cross between tiarella and heuchera.

Both are native to North America.

Ok, well I am going to ask him to go get me some of it. I will plant it in the back of the fairy gard3en under the trees and see how it does.
Thanks for the id!!

Tyler, TX(Zone 8b)

I mailed my buddy's box yesterday. Hope she likes it!

Blackshear, GA

Mine was mailed today! Someone should get it Friday. Hope you like them!

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

Sun and 80 today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Athens, PA

It is a Heuchera. Does it get reddish on it at times?

Mailed out my partners box yesterday to Dispatcher 1.

Carolyn, I donot know, he found this in the woods near the place where the kids go swimming. It is growing wild there, he did say there is some oak leaf hydrangieas there too. Sorry for the spelling...
