Spring Daffodils in the Front Yard (pics)

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

The daffodil bulbs I planted last fall are really paying off this spring in a wonderful front yard show.

This is out by the sidewalk showing the long view of the front yard.

I have a Scheepers daff mix in those two mini terraces. Then in the very front are two rows of daylilies, daylilies at both ends, and early tulips directly in back of the daylilies.

Lots of pretty daffs.

Then those MARIA daffs along the front walkway to the street are going strong.

Here they are again, I just, love, love, love these.

On the other side of the pathway the YORK MINISTER daffs are just starting to come open. They open more solid yellow and then the trumpet gets a blush of orange as they get older. They are also much bigger and taller than the MARIA daffs.

The entire row of them along the pathway.

Then there are the R. EARLY SENSATION daffs (with tulips coming up in front) that are still going strong.

Oh I really like those Maria Daffs! I will have to put those on my list for this fall! Beautiful stands of daffodils! Your hard work last fall has paid off! They are gorgeous!

Absolutely gorgeous, Rita! Where did you buy your bulbs? I'm not familiar with the "Maria" variety - I'd like to try them too! I have "Tete-a-Tete" in several areas - I like them because they are early. This photo was taken 3/23/11.

I have hundreds each of daffs and tulips and also Dutch Iris I planted last fall in order to get the spring bloom. I bought my bulbs from Brent and Beckies and Scheepers. My Dutch iris from Scheepers, early tulips and both the mixed daff collection (Long Trumpet Collection) and the Early Sensation daffs from Scheepers. I bought the other tulips and daffs from Brent and Beckies.

Scheepers does not have the Maria daffs, I got them from Brent and Beckies. I never saw them before and just flipped when I saw the picture and had to have them.

Very nice pictures -- they are making me fall in love with Marias too :-D

I like to have later color than just the daffs also. Here I have the R Early Sensation, which are finially fading after a gloriuos run. I know they are just yellow but they are so early, opened when the crocus were blooming. It is a planting of 100, then I have 100 Darwin tulips planted in front of them which are just about to open. So I will soon have more color there.

Wonderful photos, Rita! Your daffodils and narcissus are gorgeous!

I was just out in the front yard deadheading (snipping seedpods) on the daffs, especially the ones in those belgium block mini terraces. This is my second go thru out there. It does two things, makes them set bulbs instead of wasting effort on seeds and it makes the entire area look neater. There are still plenty blooming so I want them to look good and not be overshadowed by the drying blooms on the ones that are done.

I am so pleased by the daff show and the Scheepers Long Trumpet mix. I sure can recommend it to anyone that wants a diversity of daffs that put on a stunning and long show.
