Will they grow a fat caudex? Or just grow straight and thin?

I am told cuttings will not make caudex(es?). There is no reason they wouldn't make flowers, that I know about.

No fat caudex - but they do flower. That's why I only do seed - it's the fat caudex that I'm after.
