Found this on the Barnhardt Trail in the Mazatzal Wilderness today. Central Arizona, Gila County. 4000-4400 ft elev.

It's an unusual polypore.
You should try to locate the local fungus expert to figure the species.

These two are my only photos. Just for Information sake, this is in the Tonto National Forest boundries.

Could it be Ganoderma applanatum (Bracket Shelf Fungi)?

It reminds me of Trametes versicolor - one of the turkey tail types. However, most of the Trametes I have seen are darker on the non porous side. You might Google that name, then click on "images" - and snoop through the long series of photos.
