Firstly let me tell you how sorry we feel for the people of WA.
All those fires not so long ago.
Was any of the destruction near you ?
They should be burning off during winter not hot summers.

Birds from Queensland part 2
Hi Kell,
Thankfully not near us and thanks for asking. 31 homes and 9 chalets destroyed at Margaret River/Prevally, plus untold numbers of birds, lizards, snakes, spiders and insects. The most appalling things about this fire, and the one at Molloy Island near Augusta are that they were started by the government department whose mandate it is to protect the environment it destroyed. Bad enough with lunatic arsonists setting 50% of the fires we experience, without the responsible (tongue in cheek) authority doing as much damage. Controlled burns are a necessary part of life, but they actually ignited points on a day when the forecast was for 35C (95F) with 40kph winds. Sheer lunacy. This particular controlled burn started back in September, which is reasonable, but to continue it in late November beggars belief. I've heard there will be a Royal Commission into it.
I have myself been out Mountain Climbing in the Mt Barney region when a small Plane flew over and dropped small ping pong size incendiary bombs.
They take about 15 minutes to start burning.
In that time I was able to find one and check it out.
We thought someone was dropping drugs.
We were not notified there was going to be a burn off.
We just sussed out the wind direction and headed another way home.
We did report it to the local rangers.
The poor snakes don't stand a chance.
Nice shots, Ginger. What's the story?
Is that a juvenile Cokaboora Ginger?
Beautiful photos, Ginger.
This Bird flew right inside My Studio.
He did not find any Fish or Kings to eat.
After some hurried snapshots he was on his way home.
“Resin”has positively ID'd it for me already. ;o)
No Lily_love not a Cokaboora.
But a smaller cousin.
Today is Friday the 13th.
Be careful if Yall drive somewhere.
kell.
Thank you Kell for your response. Glad the little one survived the collision. Also, I'm surprised to learn that the Friday the 13th lore is also shared there in the land of "yonder". lol
Hi Lily,
Do you have Kingfishers where you live ?
I know certain people who won't go out shopping in their car today.
They will wait till tomorrow.
Kell, yes we've what they call 'Belted Kingfisher'. I often saw them as they were passing by. Last year I had one that collided with my window, but recovered well like your little Cokaboora's smaller cousin there. Teehehehehe, with the time difference. You're 12 hours ahead of us. So technically it's still Thrusday, so no bad luck Friday "allowed" here--yet. lol
It's a Sacred Kingfisher Todiramphus sanctus
Resin
Thanks Resin,
I felt it was much more official coming from you.
By the way Resin, do you have Friday 13th curse there in UK ?
You're welcome!
There's a popular belief in one, but I've never noticed any truth in it ;-)

Love the photos of them! The palm flowers make a great background.
Hi Pelle,
Long time no hear from you.
Thought you might have left DG.
Did you know there was a mass walkout over at Rocky Mountains Forum ?
Yes, these Lorikeets love the Flowers on this Palm.
I am going to add about 6 Pictures but they are all different.
Hope you enjoy the rest as well.

Picture # 3.
The pictures of the Kingfisher closeup are lovely, and so are the Lorikeets. Like Pelle said, I love the background , they bring them out really well.
The last two pics. are just gorgeous!
They are gorgeous, ginger. Nice to see them in their native habitat, too. Over here, they have become a huge pest.

Thanks Margaret,
Supermarket Car Parks don't like them here in SEQ.
There can be up to 12,000 in just one Car Park.
They have to put up Vinyl Shades to protect custemers Cars.
They need to provide hearing protection as well. I know the noise of a couple of hundred. 12,000 would put a jet engine to shame.
My count is 21 birds in your #5 pic.
Beautiful close up shot of the Loorikeet!
Thanks Burn for your try.
I will give it a day to see if there are any other guesses.
I count 22 birds in pic # 5
Really Beautiful birds
Might be a quail of some sort? Any more pics?
