I moved into an old house that has several peonies but this one is the only one that ever blooms, does anyone know what kind it is?

Also, the other ones come up but I don't get any buds on them, any ideas why they won't bloom and what can I do to get them to bloom?

They maybe too deep in the ground. I had a set that I planted 7 years ago that would come up every year but wouldn't bloom. Last Spring I took out some of the dirt covering the plants so that they would closer to the surface and they finally bloomed. Check and see how deep your peonies are planted, but be careful not to injure the emerging eyes. Good luck with blooms this year.

Cem9165 is right. Herbaceous peonies should not be more than 1 inch below the soil. They also need a good amount of sunlight. My peonies on the north side of the house come up every year, but have to be moved before they will bloom.
