Love Kamata-nishiki. A side note or two is that it is the peony used for most of Heartland Peony Society's items. Had the first HPS plant sale committee meeting this afternoon. Date is not set but generally the first or second weekend in October. In looking over suspects I had a hard time not making a wish list for myself.

For those looking for different peonies this is the time to look as even this early some peonies are already sold out. Another thing is that several of the nurseries are having some plants that have not been available for several years. This is partially caused by other nurseries being closed either by sale or retirement.

I ordered Kamata-nishiki and when it bloomed it was no where near blue. It is deep fushia. I wonder if that is due to soil or due to not getting what I ordered. Took three years to bloom so no going back to vendor.
