/can this ground cover be effectively controlled around its perimeter just by mowing
SNOW ON THE MOUNTAIN
Mowing probably encourages it to spread more.
It spreads by underground roots so is very difficult to control unless you make a physical barrier of some kind.
Even then I think the roots would eventually grow under the barrier.
do you have a picture of this?
I tore it all out so no pics.
If any surfaces, I'll do photo.
Goutweed is another name.
Aegopodium pogandra?
Last spring, I deliberately planted bishop's weed because I need a groundcover in a mostly shaded area. It was the biggest dud!!! It all died off, and I was very disappointed.
I officially started my war with this plant this year. I made the mistake of planting 3 inch pot last year, and it has now grown to a 6 x 10 area drowning everything in it's path. My Mom told me if I keep roundupping each sprout and pulling the ones close to my plants, I will eventually get rid of it or atleast control it!
This is very hard to pull out! lo. I have been battleing for several years. Went out with my trusty shovela nd dug for hours. The next year oh no! Its back! Only put it where you really want it. I took it from "under the fence" neighbors spreading. Very pretty leaves but..... Ronna
