I live in southwestern Ohio on a riverbank and would like to know whether bearded iris or other types can withstand periodic flooding (mostly spring and fall for three or four days at a time). Does anyone have experience with this?
Iris for riverbanks
Bearded don't like their feet wet. I would suggest Louisianas or beardless species. NOT PSEUDACORUS! They are invasive & spread.
Japanese shoud be good for that situation, also. Louisianas and Japanese should thrive there.
Versicolor, and Pseudatas (sterile) would also do well
