Anyone have any ideas as to what this plant is. Seems to be more of a vine without any tendrils, maybe a groundcover? The older leaves are a deep burgundy heart shaped colour, new leaves are quite a bright green. Have been given 4 pots of this plant but don't want it to take over everything! Live very close to the east coast - sub tropical area. Any help would be appreciated. Linda

Linda, I think what you have is Ipomoea batatas, ornamental sweet potato vine. Colleen

Yes Linda, Colleen has it. You'll find it will love your conditions and will grow quite readily from cuttings. You can keep it trimmed to contain it.

Thanks for the id, I'll keep my eye on it's spread & cut back when needed. My dahlias are just starting to show their beautiful faces!
