Welwitchia in hydroton

Port Elizabeth, South Africa(Zone 10a)

I have done it - germinated Welwitchia mirabilis in hydroton. I have tried various ways, and could not get it done. I have now put some more seed in the hydroton and I am trying to replicate this.

Dioscorea sylvatica germinated as well - just a wire with a leaf.

Also got Cyphostemma juttae to germinate and D. rupicola.

Thanks - now to get him to 1 year!

How do you keep the seeds from falling down too far into the hydroton? Otherwise is seems a good medium to get things started.
Thanks.

The Welwitchia seeds are winged and pretty big so it is not a real issue.

Will do - once I can get it bigger so that I do not need macro's, otherwise it is just a pot! LOL It is similar to the ones sally uses.
