high lot verses low loft

Hi Ladies;
I have been making quillows for a few years now & have used mostly high loft poly batting, i usually buy my batting at walmart as they have been the most resonable, now i can not seem to find high loft anywhere. Walmart now carrys extra loft which is very thin I am told the quillow is not as warm as the ones made with higher loft. No one seems to know anything about the difference in loft other than one is thinner for sewing quilts.Does anyone know? I sure would appreciate the answer.
