Dahlia campanulata

San Juan Bautista, CA

Help! If you have (or know someone who has) cuttings or tubers for this amazing dahlia, Dahlia campanulata or "Weeping Tree Dahlia", I would love to find some for my mom for a Christmas present... I've seen lots of information on it, but no plants for sale. Thanks for any help. :)

I googled and googled, checked the Big List, no luck. You may want to head over to Ebay and contact member strange_wonderful_things. He might know if he will have some available.

Thanks for the help. I did find two tree dahlias at Annie's Annuals, fortunately, but the D. Campanulata seems hard to come by except for one site in Germany. I contacted Strange Wonderful Things and hopefully he'll have some still. The next step will probably be planning a trip to Mexico to find find my own in the mountains! : )

Here's some info you might find interesting.

From Botanica Mexicana " Dahlia campanulata most closely resembles D. imperialis"

Here is some info from the San Francisco Botanical Garden in reference to imperialis

Here's a source for imperials. They do look very similar.

It is very pretty. Looks like handkerchiefs blowing in the wind.

Thanks, I'll check those links out. There are so many unique species dahlias--even one that's a climbing type, D. macdougalii, I think it was called. That would be an amazing one to see! Thanks for the info.

I wish we could grow it here. According to what I read it would never flower in our growing season. Good luck!
