Bottle Trees - Can Aluminum Xmas tree be used?

Thousand Oaks, CA(Zone 10a)

Ah, I just just thinking....now I have a headache. hehehe I want a Bottle Tree, have started collecting the wine bottles from friends. Just thinking that maybe I could use an old aluminum Christmas tree and maybe paint it green. I was wondering if the branches would be strong enough to hold up the wine bottle? Having a hard time finding a welder, and thought maybe also could drill holes in a round pole that I saw at Lowe's. I think it was spiked at one end, 4 in around, but 18 ft long. Haven't figured out how to get that home yet. Maybe they will cut some off, or I can take a saw and do it myself. I am woman, hear me roar. LOL

Thoughts, please.
