These seeds are super easy to germinate - - direct sow outdoors in the fall.  Before sowing, I dust the seeds by shaking them in an old pill bottle containing about 1/8th teaspoon of ground cinnamon - a natural anti-fungal agent that helps prevent "damp off".  Sow seeds about ź inch deep.

slender brown pods form where the flowers used to be . . . green at first, they get brown just before they spring open and disperse their seeds. you can put them into a paper bag and let them pop open in the bag, or you can press on the sides of the pod between two fingers and make the pod crack open that way - - be careful not to do too many, tho - - - once i cracked open a few hundred pods that way and got neuropathy in the fingers i used - - numbness for about the next three weeks, and a little bit of pain, too.
