I have a lot of chipmunks in my front and back yard. So far I have not noticed any damage to my plants other than the occasional stolen cherry tomato. And I don't love the holes but they aren't a huge bother. I assume they are very brave chipmunks because they aren't detered by my chihuahua who digs for them when he sniffs them out. He gets so frustrated when he can't catch them! My problem is I have heard conflicting reports about chipmunks and bulbs. Some say they will eat them all because they are their favorite food. Others say they don't bother bulbs at all. I ordered a bunch of tulips and hyacinth to plant in a few weeks and don't want them to be expensive chipmunk food. If you have them are they destructive to your garden? And if I chose to get rid of them what is the best way? Thanks!
Chipmunks Galore
Sprinkle some Milorganite on top of every place you dig and the chippies will leave your bulbs alone. That's what I do. They hate the stuff.
I will definitely do that. Thanks so much for the tip!
Happy to help!
