login logout explained

Deep South, TX(Zone 9b)

DG made it easy to login by using cookies, you probably don't even know your doing it. When you leave the site you automaticly log out.

A cookie is a small file sites put on your computer for various info, such as name, password, and some sites use them to collect info you rather not share. Remember your security software, anti-virus, ect.

Most membership sites are this way. Yahoo logs you out every two weeks, they remember your user name and you supply the password.

Why would you want to logout or login? DG seem harmless but, say you have kids and you don't want them using a membership site, log out and they can't get in without the password. You have his and hers accounts. Your on a diffrent computer and you want to check your d-mail (remember to logout). Some people like having two accounts for various reasons. Somebody cleaned up your machine and deleted your DG cookie.

Before you logout make sure you have you user name and password. DG e-mailed you a password when you signed up, or you may have changed it. On most pages of DG at the top, under the tabs it has "my info" "mail" "logout". Once you logout this subtab becomes "login", click it and use your user name and password. They usually have a link in the login page in case you forgot your user name or password.

Hope this helps anybody.
