Removing wax from Batik?

Rockport, ME(Zone 5b)

I've just started fooling around with Batik for the first time. I had great fun dying the fabric, but now comes the tricky part of removing the wax. I tried ironing it between pieces of newsprint, but it seemed to take forever! Then I put about a yard into my speghetti pot and boiled it, and that did take quite a bit off, but it left the fabric covered with lumps of melted wax, and didn't take it ALL off. I wonder if the pot it just too small, or if I just need to keep boiling the fabric over and over until the wax is gone. Does anyone have a better method??
