I got this from Michigan Bulb Co. and it was labeled as the giant purple dinnerplate dahlia. This definitely doesn't look giant to me (about 5 inches across) and it also looks red and not purple. I know the size can vary a lot but I it doesn't look purple at all to me. Any ideas?
Kelly, I've only grown dahlias for two years and have a very limited knowledge of the different types. There are so many that look alike that I won't even guess. Some friends had some a couple years ago that were similar to yours. It seems to me that their's were called Garden Wonder. Wish I could be of more help. Dan
I agree with Dan. There are just too many that look alike so it's a guessing game.
It could be Garden Wonder, right size too, and its quite popular with companies like Michigan Bulb:
