Hello, I have a tall hybrid phlox (white) in my garden. I have had this for the past 4 years. This year when the phlox was ready to bloom, few stems started to dry out and die. I checked whether there were any bugs or whether the leaves turned any color or the leaves had any holes in them. I did not find anything wrong with the plant. I had to cut these stems out. The rest of the plant looks fine and is now blooming well. Today I noticed one more stem drying out. I do fertilize my plant once every 3 weeks and they do get watered by the dripping system.
Can anyone please tell me what is happening with my phlox? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Gopal
Phlox stem drying out.
Since I did not get any response to the posting. I am trying to move this to the Perennial forum and see whether I get any answers there. Thanks
I had a similar problem on a different plant.... look for a small hole in the stem- mine was a borer that entered the stem and chewed the inside, stopping water flow of course.
